Vitamin K

  1. Vitamin K dependant clotting factors: 2, 7, 9, 10 - C, S
  2. GLUTAMATE CARBOXILATION by vitamin K
  3. Vitamin E TOXICITY INHIBITS vitamin K dependent factors
  4. Vitamin K deficiency presents:
    • ELEVATED: PTT, PT
    • NORMAL: BLEEDING TIME, because platelets are not affected
  5. Vitamin K antagonist 
  6. C and S factors are natural anticoagulants proteins, they prevent excessive coagulation.
  7. Warfarin inhibits C and S proteins synthesis and thus produce paradoxical thrombosis.
