Drug combination adverse effects

  1. ACE inhibitors + Potassium sparing diuretic = HYPERKALEMIA
    • every "PRIL" + (amiloride, triamterene, spironolactone)
  2. Statins + Fibrates = MYOPATHY and/or HEPATOTOXICITY
    • every "STATIN" + gemfibrozil
  3. Bile acid binding resins (cholestyramine, colesevelam, colestipol) + Fibrate (gemfibrozil) = GALLSTONES formation
  4. Hearing loss combination = OTOTOXICITY
    • Aminoglycosides
    • Salicilates
    • Loop diuretics
    • Cisplatine
  5. MAO inhibitors + B-adrenergic agonists = HYPERTENSIVE CRISIS
  6. MAO inhibitors + SSRI's and/or Meperidine = SEROTONIN SYNDROME
